Introduction to Western Herbs & Supplementation
This is a two day workshop.
Workshop Description: This workshop will cover a broad spectrum of the most common Western botanicals which will be studied along with their functions and indications. Students interested in wholistic medicine will learn the therapeutic value and correct dosages of these herbs. Since herbal remedies have become a major factor in American health care, the need to educate patients about the truly safe and effective botanicals, as well as the potentially ineffective and dangerous alternatives is a priority. The application of botanicals as adjuncts to bodywork, acupuncture and conventional western treatment will be discussed. Also included will be discussion of the interactions between herbs, supplements and medications.
